Pastor Joel A. Urshan is the great-grandson of the early twentieth century Apostolic pioneer, Andrew David Urshan who was born in Persia, modern day Iran. His great-grandfather preached this Apostolic message in Russia at the beginning of the Russian Revolution. There are saints and churches in Russia today who call themselves “Urshanites” in respect to Brother Andrew who was the first one to preach this Apostolic-Pentecostal message in Russia.
Pastor Joel Andrew Urshan comes from a long line of Apostolic preachers. His grandfather, Bishop Nathaniel A. Urshan, pastored for over twenty-five years at Calvary Tabernacle in Indianapolis, Indiana, before answering the call to leadership of the United Pentecostal Church, International, as the General Superintendent. His father, Elder Nathaniel Paul Urshan pastored for many years in Kokomo, Indiana, where Joel served as co-pastor before moving to Cincinnati, Ohio.
Pastor Joel Urshan preached his first sermon at the age of eleven and he has been preaching the Apostolic message for the last twenty years. He is the pastor of the First Apostolic Church in Cincinnati which was founded by Bishop Frank E. Curts in 1925. He and his wife, Heidi and two daughters, reside in Mason, Ohio.
